Silver Spring man wins $50,002 playing Bonus Match 5
Construction crews rely on long, hot summer days to make their money so even a sizable Maryland Lottery win could make a worker think twice about taking time off. After winning $50,002 playing the Lottery’s Bonus Match 5 game, a hard-working Silver Spring man simply signed the back of his ticket and waited patiently for a rainy day.
As soon as the rain rolled around, the 45-year-old collected his top-prize win in the game’s June 30 drawing. The lucky father of two adult children is such a loyal player he’d already purchased his daily ticket early in the morning, before claiming his prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The soon-to-be grandfather, who enjoys playing jackpot games as well as Bonus Match 5, found his luck at his favorite Lottery retailer, Hillandale Beer & Wine in Silver Spring. The loyal player will sometimes pick up a ticket for the Pick 3 or Pick 4 drawing, but said he primarily concentrates on Bonus Match 5, Mega Millions and Powerball.
He quick-picked his way to success with this ticket, which contained a $2 win along with the $50,000 top prize. The happy winner plans to pay bills with his windfall and keep playing his favorite Lottery games. For selling the top-prize winning ticket, the Montgomery County retailer located at 10117 New Hampshire Avenue received a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
Bonus Match 5 drawings take place seven days a week. Players select five numbers ranging from 1 to 39. The Bonus Ball drawn from the remaining 34 numbers provides extra chances to win. Your ticket is a winner if you match five, four or three of the original five winning numbers selected in the drawing. If you match the Bonus Ball number, you only need to match four, three or two of your original numbers to win!
