Adelphi man finds $10,000 scratch-off prize
Being showered with Lottery luck is a sure cure for the rainy day blues that plague outdoor construction workers when storms cancel a day’s pay. In fact, a Prince George’s County worker scratched off so much Maryland Lottery green he could have been singing and dancing in the rain.
The 46-year-old is a regular Lottery player and usually purchases tickets at his favorite spot, the 7-Eleven at 9151 Riggs Road in Adelphi. When rain delayed his outdoor project, the Adelphi resident stopped off at the store to play a few instant tickets to pass the time. His selection included a $5 Bingo Times 10 scratch-off.
He didn’t expect anything momentous as he scratched the ticket, having never won a big Lottery prize, but noticed something abnormal as he played the game. When he checked the results with the clerk, he got great news. He won a $10,000 prize!
The lucky player says his wife is very happy about his good fortune and the prize will help pay family medical bills. “When you play a lot, it’s nice to win something back,” he said.
The Bingo Times 10 game still has two $50,000 top-prize tickets and four more $10,000-winning tickets waiting for discovery in Maryland stores.
