Wins Bonus Match 5 Top Prize
For as long as he can remember, Reginald Rivers has enjoyed playing the Lottery, much to his wife’s chagrin. His wife, Ellen always wanted him to find a new hobby, but Reginald always said his favorite pastime would one day earn them a lot of money. The dedicated player got all the validation he needed last Sunday when they took home the $50,000 Bonus Match 5 jackpot.
On Sunday evening, Reginald checked his Bonus Match 5 tickets and was getting ready to throw them away when he decided something wasn’t right. “The newspaper printed the wrong numbers,” he said. “But I had a feeling about my tickets. I called the Lottery’s numbers line and my hunch was right – I won $50,000!” Rivers, a 66-year-old steelworker, told his wife immediately. Ellen, who is a retired Baltimore County paramedic, accompanied her husband to Lottery headquarters, happily conceded. “Okay, he was right,” she laughingly told Lottery officials, “He was right and now he has to buy me lunch.”
Reginald and Ellen, who have been married for 44 years, have three children, six grandchildren and a slew of great-grandchildren. They credit laughter and a commitment to family as the key to their successful marriage.
After celebrating the big win with a nice lunch together, the happy couple plans to put their winnings straight into savings. The winning ticket was purchased at the Brenbrook Shell station located at 8712 Liberty Road in Randallstown.
