Lifelong Maryland resident “Ravens Fan Suzie” enjoys playing scratch-offs year around, but as the days grow shorter and the evenings begin to cool, she is on the lookout for the instant tickets that celebrate her favorite football team.
In this case, the saying “the early bird gets the worm” certainly came true for the Baltimore Ravens fan. “Suzie” picked up a $2 Ravens X5 ticket recently and cashed it in on Sept. 26 for a $20,000 top prize.
Though “Suzie” is a rather casual fan when it comes to watching the games from start to finish, her husband is an avid fan.
“I was at the second championship game when the Colts beat New York,” he says. It took place in 1959 at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore and the Baltimore Colts beat the Giants, 31-16. Likewise, one of “Suzie’s” two sons has been a Ravens season ticket holder for many years.
“Suzie” and husband both have been pleased with this season’s promising start. “My grandson will be very happy when they start winning every game,” she said.
With her $20,000 prize, the couple plans to purchase a generator because they have experienced a number of power outages lately. They’ll also share some of the winnings with their sons and grandson.
Players have plenty of additional opportunities to win with the Ravens X5 game. Seven $20,000 top prizes are still awaiting discovery, along with thousands of others ranging from $2 to $5,000.
This is the 10th consecutive season that the Maryland Lottery and the Baltimore Ravens have teamed up to offer licensed scratch-offs. Players with non-winning Ravens multiplier scratch-offs can enter them into a second-chance contest through My Lottery Rewards to try to win cash prizes, Ravens season tickets for 20 years or a trip to see the Ravens play in Atlanta or Kansas City. The next drawing is Oct. 16.
Also picking up a win is Weis Market #228 at 1238 Putty Hill Avenue in Towson, which earns a $200 bonus for selling a top-prize scratch-off of $20,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
