Owings Mills woman claims $10,000 prize on the Lottery’s $5 game
Winning big on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off can send a player’s spirits soaring and that’s just what happened when “Lady Raven” played the new $5 Ravens instant ticket. The 77-year-old Owings Mills woman purchased her lucky scratch-off while grocery shopping at her local Giant and left with a $10,000 surprise!
The lucky player, a retired ultrasound coordinator calling herself “Lady Raven,” said she was on a routine grocery shopping trip when she got the feeling she should purchase a scratch-off.
“I had played the Ravens tickets many times in previous years, but never won anything more than $15,” she said. “Something told me to try one of the new Ravens scratch-offs.” The Lottery and the Baltimore Ravens have teamed up for eight consecutive years to offer Ravens-themed scratch-offs and second-chance promotions.
As she scratched off the ticket, the Baltimore County resident uncovered the word ‘WIN’ on several spots. The winning $500 spots and other matches on the instant ticket added up to a $10,000 prize.
She got so excited over the win, she said, that she forgot the groceries that she intended to purchase. Instead, she hurried home to share the great news with her husband.
“Lady Raven” told Lottery officials she still can’t believe her good luck. She expects to make her prize go a long way and will pay a few bills and put the remainder into her savings account.
