Claims final $50,000 top prize on favorite scratch-off
It took a little time for a Baltimore woman to figure out that her Bingo Multiplier scratch-off was a $50,000 winner. However, once she did, the celebration began.
The lucky receptionist, who spent Labor Day with her mother, purchased her winning $5 scratch-off at Budget Liquors in Baltimore. When she revealed results of the fifth of the instant ticket’s six bingo cards, the 40-year-old thought she had won $500.
“I saw that I had the four corners,” she said. “But then I kept looking at it and looking at it. I looked at it so many times to make sure.”
All of those looks, by both the winner and her mother, confirmed that she had matched enough of the numbers to form an “X” across the card and win $10,000. When she scratched the multiplier section of the instant ticket, the news got even better. She revealed a 5x multiplier, which made her the last of the ticket’s $50,000 top-prize winners.
“I said, ‘Oh my God, I think I just won $50,000!’ ” said the winner, adding that she immediately took the ticket back to Budget Liquors to confirm the prize.
“They scanned it and the guy said, ‘Whoa, this is a big one. You’ll have to go to the Lottery office,’ ” recalled the lucky winner, who was joined by her mother and brother as she claimed the prize a few days later at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
This isn’t the first time she’s had good luck with the Bingo Multiplier game. Within the past year, she also won a $500 prize. She plans to use these winnings to pay bills and build up her savings. The retailer is a winner as well. For selling the top-prize-winning scratch-off, Budget Liquors located at 7000 Eastern Avenue in Baltimore will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
