Refueling Stop Leads to $50,000 Scratch-off Win

Baltimore man takes home a Holiday Luck X5 top prize

A 50-year-old Baltimore man who stopped at a local convenience store to fill up his gas tank filled up his bank account, too! He scratched his way to a $50,000 top-prize win on a Holiday Luck X5 scratch-off.

The maintenance worker, who chose the nickname “T-Bone” for Lottery publicity, found his way to Carroll Mart in Essex earlier this month to get gas. While there, the scratch-off fan decided to purchase three instant tickets, including the $5 Holiday Luck X5 game.

“T-Bone” played the scratch-offs in his car and revealed a big surprise! He had matched the same number numerous times and found a 5X symbol. After adding up all of the revealed amounts, “T-Bone” found himself with a $50,000 top-prize win!

“It scared me,” said “T-Bone.” “I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest.”

After pulling himself together, the father of three adult children went on a mission to find out how to claim his prize. He made an appointment at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore and accomplished his task last week.

“I just feel so blessed,” said the grateful winner. “I spent $15 and won $50,000.”

“T-Bone” shared that the prize will go toward buying a new truck and helping his family members.

Carroll Mart, which is located at 101 Back River Neck Road, will also benefit from his win. The Baltimore County store will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off in the holiday-themed game.

The Holiday Luck X5 scratch-off still has big prizes remaining. There is one more unclaimed $50,000 top prize, two unclaimed $5,000 prizes and more than 120,000 prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000.
