Learns of Powerball win on Christmas day
This past year has been very good to a 42-year-old Reisterstown woman. She got married, earned her college degree and received a promotion at work. Just when she thought it couldn’t get any better, she checked her Powerball ticket on Christmas to reveal a $50,000 third-tier prize.
The ticket, which was purchased at News Mart convenience store at 100 South Charles Street in Baltimore, was just one number shy from hitting the big $50 million jackpot. The lucky winner matched four white balls and the Power Ball.
“On Christmas day, I started checking my Powerball tickets from the night before and noticed that I matched most of the numbers,” she said. “That’s when I started screaming for my husband. We were in complete shock.”
The lucky couple, who have been married for only a few months, said that they would pay bills with some of their winnings.
After a whirlwind year, the excited winner said she had no idea that they would end this year could end on such a higher note.
“We felt so blessed even before we realized we won,” said the winner’s husband. “This just feels like the icing on the cake.”
