$10,000 Powerball Prize Turns into $40,000 with Power Play Option
“Speechless,” is how the $40,000 Powerball winner described her reaction to her recent windfall. Accompanied to Lottery Headquarters by her husband, the young woman received the winning ticket from a close relative who she preferred not to identify, except to say “She is extremely generous.”
The winner and her philanthropic family member were at work when the win was discovered. “My relative, who bought the ticket, checked the numbers online,” said the winner. “She was flabbergasted when she saw the matching numbers.” The ticket matched four white balls plus the Powerball to win the third-tier $10,000 prize. With the Power Play option, the prize automatically increased to $40,000.
The celebrants were very low key about their newfound wealth and the prize recipient intends to keep her good news quiet. “My relative’s wish was to keep this as discrete as possible,” she said.
With plans to start a family soon, the winner will use the money to pay bills. “I also have my eye on an I-Pad,” she said with a smile. The winning ticket was purchased at Country Liquors, located at 208 Sassafras St. in Millington.
