Research and Patience Lead to $100,000 Lottery Scratch-off Win

Determined Essex Woman Finds Green Streak Top Prize

Green StreakOnline research paid off to the tune of $100,000 this week for an Essex woman, who patiently studied the Maryland Lottery website to determine which scratch-off tickets still had unclaimed big prizes. She set her sights on the Lottery’s Green Streak ticket, which the website showed with four unclaimed $100,000 top prizes.

“I had been eyeing that ticket for a while,” the mother-of-one told Lottery officials. “Usually I don’t buy the $10 tickets, but I had just won $20 playing the other day and knew there were four top prizes left. I gave it a try when I was out grocery shopping.”

Upon returning home from the store, the 34-year-old scratched her two tickets and saw that her research had truly paid off.

“I just started screaming,” the happy winner said. “I couldn’t believe it.”

After sharing the news with her husband, the lucky lady had only one person left to tell. “My eight-year-old son saw what was going on,” she said, jovially. “We explained it to him.”

A human resources worker, the woman and her husband plan to use the money to take care of bills. With a smile, she added, “Well, we may use some of the money to take a vacation. We haven’t been on a vacation in years. We may go to Miami.”

The lucky woman picked up her winning Green Streak scratch-off at the Food Lion #1653, located at 1565 Hyde Park Rd. in Baltimore.
