Instant ticket enthusiast wins with $100,000 Gold Rush game
A $100,000 Gold Rush scratch-off served up the biggest Maryland Lottery win of a restaurant worker’s life, delivering a hearty prize twice the size as her previous big win.
Nearly two years after winning a $10,000 scratch-off prize, the Westminster woman is feasting on her $20,000 win. The scratch-off enthusiast purchased her lucky $10 ticket a couple weeks ago at Odenton Liquors located at 1115 Annapolis Road in Odenton.
“I started scratching it in the store, and I just looked at it and said, ‘What?’ ” she recalled. “I put it in my purse and figured I’d look at it at home, and then I got home and forgot about it. Later on I got it out and took another look and I saw 20x and $1,000. I called my daughter and said, ‘Come get some cash with me.’ ”
The mother of one and grandmother of three said she plays Powerball when the jackpot gets high, but mostly enjoys scratch-offs because they offer the chance to win instantly. She hid the lucky ticket in the glove compartment of her car until she could come to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim her prize. The Carroll County resident doesn’t have any special plans for the money other than paying bills.
The $100,000 Gold Rush ticket launched in January and three of its $100,000 top prizes are still waiting to be found at Lottery retailers across the state. The game also has three more $20,000 prizes, 10 remaining $10,000 prizes and over 100,000 additional prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
