Retired Auto Executive Drives Away with $50,000 Lottery Win

Family numbers key to Owings Mills man’s Bonus Match 5 prize

Playing his lucky numbers put a retired auto executive in the driver’s seat to win the $50,000 top prize in the March 5 Bonus Match 5 drawing. When the Baltimore County man visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize, he told officials that he owes it all to his family. The 70-year-old father and grandfather used a combination of family ages for his numbers.

“I play every week and have fun doing it,” said the Owings Mills resident. “I always use some combination of these lucky numbers.” Lucky is right, as he discovered when he called the Lottery’s winning numbers phone line to check the status of the ticket he bought at the 7-Eleven in Pikesville.

“I recognized the numbers immediately,” he said. He checked his ticket and then double-checked it. “I had to be sure so I looked up the numbers on the Lottery website. They all matched! I just couldn’t believe it, I had to wake up my wife.”

With the prize, the couple can expand a small home renovation project they were planning. “We need to do it and it was really going to eat into our savings,” said the happy winner.
