Retired Glen Burnie Truck Driver on Road to Riches

Claims $50,000 Bonus Match 5 Prize

Bonus Match 5A 79-year old Glen Burnie man visited the Maryland Lottery Claim Center Thursday afternoon to pick-up a check for $50,000 courtesy of his favorite game, Bonus Match 5. Even though the win – the biggest of his life – occurred just the previous night, officials detected little excitement when they met him, certainly less than is the norm for winners of large jackpots.

“I’m a pretty low-key guy,” today’s winner explained.  “Never too high, never too low.”  In fact, after watching Wednesday night’s drawing, writing down the winning numbers and checking his tickets, Mr. Low-Key walked into the living room and told his wife the big news in the same way he might remind her to pick up the dry cleaning.  At this point the low-key atmosphere in the house changed dramatically.  Between his wife and his daughter, there was more than enough excitement for any family.

When asked what he would do with his winnings, the retired truck driver wasn’t sure where the money would fit into their lives.  He mentioned paying bills and maybe helping his kids, but he was absolutely sure of only one thing – no travel.  “In all those years that I was driving a truck I must have seen every highway in this country. No more, please!”

Last night’s $50,000 Bonus Match 5 winning ticket was sold at Chesapeake Liquors, located at 6720 Ritchie Hwy.in Glen Burnie.
