Retired Prince Georges County Man Enjoys Jackpot Celebration

Riverdale resident claims $575,000 Multi Match Jackpot

A Riverdale man who said he is very optimistic about life had his positive outlook enhanced even further after a $575,000 Multi-Match jackpot win earlier this month.

On Dec. 9, the 76-year-old retired mechanic visited Crestview Wine & Spirits located at 6705 Annapolis Road in Landover Hills, where he frequently goes to buy Lottery tickets. The lucky winner opted to play Multi-Match and a few other lottery draw games using only computer-generated quick picks rather than selecting the numbers himself.

“I prefer using quick picks and just letting everything happen,” he said.

That night, the first line out of the three on his $2 Multi-Match ticket matched all six of the winning numbers. But he didn’t learn that he was a winner until two days later when he checked the numbers at mdlottery.com. He didn’t fully believe it until he visited another nearby retailer and scanned the ticket.

“I couldn’t believe it, I really needed this,” said the lucky winner who just retired in August after 23 years working as a mechanic. He plans to use a portion of his winnings to pay off his mortgage and the remainder will be used for home repairs and helping loved ones that may be in need.

Crestview Wine & Spirits will also share in the prize as the store will receive $1,000 for selling a Multi-Match jackpot winner.
