Retired Public Defender Nearly Faints After $50,000 Lottery Win

Player claims top prize on Win Win Win scratch-off

The scratch-off was new and green and said “win” on it three times. That was all a lucky Hyattsville woman needed to see to convince herself to try her luck playing the Win Win Win game. She took one go at it and now is celebrating a $50,000 top-prize win.

The 92-year-old plays Lottery games frequently and won $2,500 on a Pick 4 ticket in the past. This is her biggest Lottery score ever! The Prince George’s County resident found her lucky ticket at New Hampshire Avenue Liquors located at 6501 New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park.

Before buying the $5 scratch-off, she recalls thinking to herself that the combination of the Win Win Win game’s color and name “has to be a good sign.” Later that day, she scratched off her instant ticket. “When I learned that I had a top-prize winner, I nearly fainted,” she added, explaining that her choice of the retailer and the game were completely random.

The retired federal public defender plans to use her fortune to pay bills and for some needed home improvements.

New Hampshire Avenue Liquors also shares in the lucky win. The store will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top prize-winning scratch-off of $50,000. Stop by this store or other retailers to try your luck with the Win Win Win instant ticket, which went on sale in March with eight $50,000 top prizes. There are four remaining along with prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
