Baltimore County man finds Lottery luck on third game of the day
A CSX retiree from Dundalk got on track for a big win when he made his third scratch-off purchase of the day recently. His winning choice was the Lucky Numbers game!
The grandfather of one is off the rails with happiness over his $50,000 top-prize win on the $5 scratch-off. His fortunate game choice took place at Left Field Pub in Dundalk.
“I was at my local watering hole, where I go once a week, talking to the bartender,” the winner said. Following his routine, he asked her about the $5 scratch-offs the pub had available and picked one to play.
The first of his $5 games was a non-winner so the loyal player bought another game, but experienced the same result. “I checked my money and I said, ‘Give me one more.’” His third instant ticket of the day was the Lucky Numbers game. “I scratched it and I’m looking at it and I’m thinking something’s not right.” Another regular at the bar asked what was wrong and he replied, “I don’t believe this! I think I won $50,000!”
The bartender ran the scratch-off through the ticket checker and verified his top-prize win. The father of two adult children called his wife to share his great news. “I said, ‘I think I hit for $50,000’ and she started crying! I said, ‘I think you better get down here.’”
The couple, who have known each other almost 50 years, plan to pay off all of their debts with the prize and “start fresh.”
Also celebrating the win is his lucky “watering hole,” Left Field Pub located at 3813 North Point Boulevard. For selling a top-prize winning instant ticket in the game, the Baltimore County Lottery retailer earns of bonus of $500 from the Lottery.
The Lucky Numbers game is packed with winners including six more unclaimed $50,000 top prizes and hundreds of thousands of others ranging from $5 to $5,000. The game, which went on sale in April, offers 15 chances to win.
