A retired Glen Burnie truck driver happily claimed the $1.35 million Multi-Match jackpot.
Claims $1.35 million jackpot prize from Jan. 16 drawing
A jackpot-winning Multi-Match ticket worth a whopping $1.35 million might still be buried in the bottom of a purse, were it not for the winner’s daughter.
The Maryland Lottery enthusiast, who keeps up with the Lottery’s Facebook page, spotted a post saying the jackpot-winning ticket from the Jan. 16 drawing came from Atomoco in Glen Burnie. She relayed the information to her 72-year-old dad, who had visited that Lottery retailer to buy several Multi-Match and Mega Millions tickets.
The retired truck driver quickly had his wife check her purse, which is where all of their purchased Lottery tickets go. Just as quickly, the winner – who dubbed himself “C.H.” for publicity – knew that their lives would never be the same.
“My wife read the ticket over several times and then began to cry,” said C.H. The Glen Burnie resident is no stranger to winning, having claimed a $10,000 prize playing Pick 3 several years ago. This win, however, sets a new personal record.
The Anne Arundel County couple, married for nearly two decades, had just refinanced their home, C.H. said. They plan to pay off the mortgage and their other bills with the prize. Their lucky retailer will also share in their big win. Atomoco located at 7444 Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie will receive a $1,350 bonus from the Lottery for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
