Retiree Wins Two Big Lottery Prizes in Two States in Two Years

Donald Henson and his wife Linda celebrate his $10,018 Keno win!

Frederick County man claims $10,018 Keno prize

Having two big lottery wins in two states in two years makes Donald Henson of Knoxville a lucky man!

The father of two just won a $10,018 prize playing Keno, which is his favorite Maryland Lottery game. Two years ago, the South Carolina native returned home to visit family members and won over $10,000 in the South Carolina Education Lottery. His latest win came at a Frederick County retailer.

“I went to a Sheetz gas station by my house to cash a $50 Keno ticket,” said the retired engineer. “While I was there, I played a $15 five-draw ticket with a Super Bonus.” The grandfather of six selected the seven numbers of 3, 8, 18, 21, 48, 50 and 77. “After I saw the drawing, I scanned my ticket and I immediately went to go talk to my wife.”

“He comes in the house and says, ‘What are you doing Thursday?’ Of course, I asked why,” said Linda, Donald’s wife of 42 years. “He said, ‘Well, we need to go to Baltimore because I won the Lottery.’ I have to be honest, I didn’t believe him.”

Keno isn’t the only game Donald plays. He also tries his luck with Cash4Life, Multi-Match and bingo scratch-offs. When he’s not playing Lottery games, the retiree fills his time with the game of golf. “I have a couple of golf trips planned,” Donald said, “one in the Myrtle Beach area and the other at the Shenvalee Golf Resort in New Market, Va. I plan to use some of the money to buy a new driver to help my game.”

The 68-year-old also plans to use his winnings on high school graduation gifts for his three grandsons. Sheetz #176, located at 3842 Burkittsville Road in Knoxville, also shares in the win. The retailer earns a $100.18 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more.

Keno is a fast-paced game with prizes of $1 to $100,000. Drawings take place seven days a week, giving players 354 chances to win big every day.
