$5 scratch-off delivers multiple prizes
A Rock Hall man who bought out the $50,000 Gold Rush scratch-off game at his local retailer is seeing green with a top-prize win following multiple smaller wins.
The 26-year-old simply cannot believe his luck. The marine technician initially purchased a few $50,000 Gold Rush instant tickets from Shore Stop #221 near his home and enjoyed finding several small prizes. Feeling that luck was on his side, the Kent County resident returned to Shore Stop before the Memorial Day weekend and bought the handful of $50,000 Gold Rush instant tickets that remained.
He told Maryland Lottery officials that he just had a gut feeling that there may be a big winner lurking in the pile of scratch-offs. He was right!
“I was in complete shock because it was the very first ticket that I had scratched,” he said. “I remember that I was on the front porch and I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing on the ticket.”
The lucky player said his $50,000 prize will help him purchase a Ford Explorer from his older brother. He’s been dreaming of buying the vehicle but couldn’t afford to do so until now.
“I am so happy,” he said. “I get to buy the car I’ve been wanting and I can even save whatever I have left. I will never forget this Memorial Day.”
For selling a top-prize scratch-off, the lucky Shore Stop located at 21340 Rock Hall Avenue in Rock Hall receives a $500 bonus from the Lottery. There is one more top-prize $50,000 winning ticket and three $5,000 prizes remaining on the $5 game, along with more than 300,000 prizes of $5 to $1,000.
