Wins $10,000 on quick-pick ticket
Powerball winners are popping up everywhere this year as drawings continue to shower Maryland with plenty of big prizes. One of the latest lucky players who claimed a winning ticket at Lottery headquarters was a happy Kent County man.
Winning $10,000 simply astonished the 85-year-old Rock Hall resident, who plays the Lottery sporadically. Two weeks ago, he was grocery shopping with a friend at Acme Markets located at 611 Railroad Avenue in Centreville when he decided to try his luck with five Powerball quick-pick tickets. He’s only won very small amounts in the past, which made this win so much sweeter when he checked his numbers right after the Jan. 31 drawing.
“I was just amazed,” the lucky winner said. He decided not to tell anyone about his good fortune except his grocery-shopping friend and his daughter, when she returns from overseas. He plans to share some of his win with his good friend, he said.
