$10,000 Star Spangled Tripler Scratch-off Prize Doubled to $20,000
Rock Hall resident Deborah Edwards was still in shock after learning that she had not only won $10,000 on the Star Spangled Tripler scratch-off, but that the prize was really $20,000 due to the Maryland Lottery’s $2 Top Prize Doubler Promotion, running now through July 31.
The owner of six dogs decided to start playing scratch-offs about four months ago. When she got off from work on Friday, she stopped at the store to purchase some refreshments and her normal $20 worth of scratch-off tickets. “I bought three $2 scratch-offs, two $5 tickets and a $10 ticket,” said the lucky player.

The winner then went home to feed her dogs, watch some television, scratch her tickets and relax. Deborah typically scratches all the tickets and then goes back to check them with a magnifying glass. “My sight is not too good,” she said with a chuckle. To her surprise, on one of the tickets, she saw that she’d won $9000. In wasn’t until the next day when she and several others checked her ticket again, that Deborah discovered she’d won an additional $1,000 – bringing her prize to $10,000.
When she took the ticket to the store to check it one last time, the cashier told her about the “Doubler” promotion. “I was in shock,” said the winner.
Deborah, who works part time at a seafood restaurant, said she’ll buy some treats for her pups, but is unsure of what she’ll do with the rest of her prize money. “Put it away, I guess,” she said with a smile.
The winning ticket was purchased at Rock Hall Liquors located at 21318 Rock Hall Road in Rock Hall.
