Reveals $50,000 Winning Double Dice Scratch-off
A Rockville man who took a chance on two Double Dice scratch-offs before the holidays rang in the New Year as a $50,000 Maryland Lottery winner.
The catering company on-call employee hasn’t yet let many people in on his happy secret, though. In fact, when Wilfredo Blanco scratched off his top-tier winning ticket in the Silver Spring store on Dec. 13, he completely hid his excitement. He didn’t even stop to confirm the win with the clerk.
“I was excited on the inside,” he said, “but on the outside, I didn’t want people to know.” He went straight home with the $5 ticket to show it to his parents. “We couldn’t believe it, at first,” he said.
Getting to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim his prize took several weeks because of his schedule and the state government’s holiday closings. So, the 26-year-old signed the ticket and hid it in different places around the house. He and his parents arrived at Lottery headquarters on Jan. 2 to claim the prize. His plans for his winnings include giving to his church and helping out his parents, sister and niece.
Our lucky winner found his good fortune at Rodman’s Discount Store at 4301 Randolph Road in Silver Spring.
