Salisbury Construction Worker Digs His Powerball Prize

Ticket purchased at favorite retailer yields $50,000 win for loyal player

A Salisbury father of one was all smiles as he entered the Maryland Lottery Winners’ Lounge after claiming a $50,000 Powerball prize from the Feb. 17 drawing. His two-month wait was over!

The construction worker reported that it took a long time to get his paperwork in order after he realized he had a winning ticket. More time passed as he tried to get a day off from work, which Mother Nature finally provided in the form of a rainy day. The 49-year-old and his family made the happy journey to Baltimore together to claim his prize.

The loyal player’s favorite retailer is the Crown gas station located at 28768 Ocean Gateway in Salisbury. “He always plays at that store,” said a family member, translating for the winner. “He got a surprise. They gave him the winning numbers!”

The Wicomico County resident plans to put his prize in the bank and use it toward buying a home for his family. He was the only $50,000 winner in Maryland for the Feb. 17 drawing. The next Powerball drawing on Saturday, April 30, has a jackpot of $314 million with a cash option of $204.7 million.
