Loyal players buy winning Cash Craze Crossword game in Delmar
A lucky couple from Salisbury enjoyed a day in Baltimore this week after claiming a $10,000 prize on the Cash Craze Crossword scratch-off.
The winners purchased the $3 instant ticket on Saturday at the Stop N Shop store located at 403 South Bi State Boulevard in Delmar. They scratched it off after they returned home and the celebration began.
“We looked at it five times – we couldn’t believe it,” said the lucky wife. “And then we went back to the store to check it to see if it was real.”
The couple formed nine words on their ticket, which was good for a $5,000 prize. One of the words contained a “cash stack” doubler symbol, which multiplied their winnings to $10,000.
After claiming their prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, the winners said they were headed a few blocks away to Horseshoe Casino. The Wicomico County couple only planned to spend a small amount of their Lottery prize there, however. Not long before his wife scratched her way to a $10,000 win, the husband said he was hoping for a $1,000 prize to fund a few home improvements.
“Now we can get the floors done and some painting,” she said. “We’ve been waiting to do some work around the house.”
The Cash Craze Crossword ticket went on sale in June. Six of its $30,000 top prizes are still unclaimed, along with six more $10,000 prizes, seven $5,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $3 to $3,000.
