Saturday Suds Routine Brings $10,000 Lottery Prize

Frederick man wins playing 100x The Cash game

A Fredrick County man’s weekend routine of playing Maryland Lottery games while at a Frederick laundromat put more in his laundry basket than clean clothes. He’s $10,000 richer!

The 69-year-old decided to play his favorite lottery game, Keno, at the 7-Eleven next door to the laundromat while his clothes were in the wash. He typically buys a $20 scratch-off, too.

“I had to purchase the 100x The Cash ticket because all of the other $20 tickets were sold out,” said the retiree. “I am sure glad that happened to me!”

As he went to work scratching off the instant ticket, he noticed first that he had won $5,000. He scratched off another number and it matched, too. Before he knew it, the happy Frederick resident had won $10,000 on a scratch-off he almost didn’t purchase.

“My heart starting beating faster and faster as I scratched more and more,” said the lucky player. “When I told my wife about my winnings, she could hardly believe I had finally won big.”

As for what to do with his prize, the happy man plans to repair his car and bank the rest for future spending. He also plans to continue his Saturday morning ritual of combining Lottery games and laundry.

He found the lucky ticket at 7-Eleven #27643 located at 501 East Street in Frederick. There are still lots of prizes left for players to find on the 100x the Cash ticket, including four unclaimed $1 million prizes, six $50,000 prizes and 30 more $10,000 prizes. A member of the Lottery’s multiplier family of scratch-off games, the 100x The Cash game is joined by 5x The Cash, 10x The Cash, 20x The Cash and 50x The Cash scratch-offs.
