‘Three Times the Charm’ wins $50,000 on $2,000,000 Richer instant ticket
A 63-year-old Upper Marlboro woman is still celebrating the holidays and her birthday after scratching her way to a $50,000 win on the $2,000,000 Richer game.
The Maryland Lottery scratch-off fan favors $30 scratch-off games and plays them frequently. The Prince George’s County resident uses any prizes she wins to purchase more scratch-off games, typically three at a time. The holidays were here when the lucky player cashed in $90 worth of winning scratch-offs at Marlboro Village Exxon, which is located at 5111 John Roger Boulevard in Upper Marlboro. She purchased three of the $30 $2,000,000 Richer games and took them home to play.
Going by the nickname “Three Times the Charm” because she buys her games in threes, the lucky lady was shocked when she revealed a $50,000 prize on one of the instant tickets.
“When I saw that I won, I just thanked God,” said “Three Times the Charm.”
Not only is she thankful for the win, but also that she is a cancer survivor watching the disease go into remission. “This win is a gift for the holidays, Valentine’s Day and my birthday, which just passed last month,” she told Lottery officials.
“Three Times the Charm” shared her winning news with her best friend. After verifying her Lottery luck several times, she signed the back of the instant ticket and locked it up in a safe. She later made an appointment to claim the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The retired program specialist said she plans to use the winnings to pay bills and taxes, to help her adult daughter financially and will donate to a nonprofit cancer charity.
The $2,000,000 Richer scratch-off game still has many prizes available including one more $2 million prize, another $50,000 prize and more than 50,000 prizes ranging from $30 to $500.
