Nottingham resident finds lucky $20 instant ticket
Working in a building that is also home to a Maryland Lottery retailer helped Barbara Snitzel become very familiar with the Lottery’s wide selection of scratch-offs. Especially partial to $20 instant tickets, Barbara picked out a $1,000,000 Platinum Play game at the Glen Burnie retailer to scratch off at home. The $10,000 prize she uncovered is a win she truly never expected to see and, initially, doubted seeing!
The mother of three adult children and grandmother of four prefers playing scratch-offs over other types of Lottery games. The Nottingham scratch-off fan is thrilled whenever she wins. “I won $500 once, I was ecstatic,” she said.
Imagine her reaction to her $10,000 win! Barbara honestly thought there was something wrong with her eyes. “I could not believe what I was seeing,” she told Lottery officials. “It looked like a $10,000 win, but I was sure I was seeing it wrong.”
Her daughter and son-in-law confirmed it, however, and she claimed her prize this week at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “I never ever expected to win, didn’t really believe it was possible,” said the Baltimore County resident. “It really does happen.”
The 55-year-old plans to spend her prize on a home repair project currently in progress. She also intends to keep a sharp eye out for any new $20 scratch-offs at the MDBEP #18 news shop in the lobby of the Department of Motor Vehicles at 6601 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. If she sticks with the $1,000,000 Platinum Play game, Barbara can try to win one of ticket’s four remaining $1 million top prizes, nine $50,000 prizes and 27 more $10,000 prizes.
