Virginia Woman Takes Top-Prize on Super Bonus Crossword Scratch-Off
On Friday, a brother’s kindness resulted in big rewards for his sister. The Virginia woman received two Maryland Lottery scratch-offs from her Baltimore-based brother. “I like to play occasionally,” said the mother-of–two, who was accompanied to Lottery headquarters by her thoughtful sibling.
Home alone when she scratched the winning ticket, the 47-year-old was at first incredulous. “I thought, there’s no way,” she told Lottery officials. “The largest win I’ve had in the past was $5.” The woman immediately called her brother to tell him the good news as well as to confirm her windfall. She then called her husband to relay that they were $50,000 richer. His response was “You’re joking.”
The woman, who works in finance, intends to invest the bulk of her winnings, but will definitely take care of her brother and will give each of her children $100 for their savings accounts. The winning ticket was purchased at Pop’s Liquors and Deli, located at 2320 Wilkens Ave. in Baltimore.
