Scratch-off Luck for Frederick Man

Magnificent 7’s Game Brings $77,000 Win

Magnificent 7'sA 56-year old Frederick man made the trip to the Lottery’s claim center today to pick-up a scratch-off prize that he almost overlooked.  The railroad employee bought the winning ticket on Saturday as part of his weekly routine.  There’s nothing routine, however, about his $77,000 win.

“I gas-up the car and grab a few scratch-offs every Saturday morning,” he told officials.  “I always play the games there in the store.  The winner was the last ticket I scratched and I almost missed the fact that I’d won, I luckily took a second look before tossing it.”  Remaining outwardly calm, he took his Magnificent 7’s ticket home to share the news with his wife and family.  “We were a bit more open with our celebration at the house.  It was a pretty fun scene.”

After paying-off some bills, some of the new-found winnings will be spent soon in New York during an upcoming sightseeing trip.  Today’s Frederick winner collided with Lottery luck at the Ballenger Creek Exxon station, 5870 Ballenger Creek Pike in Frederick.
