Odenton resident in awe after top prize on $100,000 Gold Rush ticket
Speculating on a scratch-off resulted in many sleepless nights for an Odenton delivery driver. That’s because the 28-year-old found a $100,000 prize when he purchased a $100,000 Gold Rush ticket. Sleep was elusive for the lucky winner as the shock and excitement of the win took hold.
He demonstrated a Midas touch when he purchased the $10 ticket at an Anne Arundel County convenience store and scratched off the play area while in store. One of the winning numbers on the ticket corresponded with a $100,000 prize.
The reaction was instantaneous. The lucky winner was stunned, in awe of the win, and his wife and daughter cried tears of joy.
“My daughter just couldn’t keep it in,” he said.
But the full reality set in as the winner claimed his prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He said the prize money would help pay bills, but the majority will go into a college fund for his children.
He bought the lucky ticket at Lucky’s Superette, located at 1101 Odenton Road in Odenton. The retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
The $100,000 Gold Rush ticket launched in January, and three of its $100,000 top prizes are still waiting to be found at Lottery retailers across the state. There are also four remaining $20,000 prizes, 11 $10,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
