A Maryland Lottery bingo scratch-off fan likes to uncover his games starting at the bottom and work his way up. Working backward gave Mr. “Bingo Winner” his top prize of $50,000 right away!
The Severna Park man found the win hiding on card 6 of his Bingo Plus game but he kept right on scratching. As he uncovered cards 5 through 1, in reverse order, he kept looking back at card 6.
“I knew it was a winner,” he said. When the 58-year-old scanned the instant ticket to check the size of his prize, the device instructed him to consult the retailer. The Hawkins Point Citgo employee, in turn, confirmed his $50,000 top-prize win and told him to claim his prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
“Bingo Winner” said he particularly enjoys bingo-style instant tickets, as well as the Ravens X5 and Ravens X10 games. The Anne Arundel County resident occasionally plays Mega Millions and Power Ball.
This $5 game, which went on sale about a year ago, is still packed with prizes. Three top prizes are unclaimed, along with four $10,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $5 to $5,000.
For selling the top-prize scratch-off in the game, Hawkins Point Citgo at 6301 Efficiency Way in Baltimore also gets lucky. The city retailer earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery; the bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
