Scratch-off Players Track Down Elusive $100,000 Top-Prize Ticket

Researched Crossword Deluxe game and caught its first winner

261-Crossword-Deluxe-ITVMResearch paid off 100,000 times for a pair of Maryland Lottery scratch-off enthusiasts, who searched the Lottery website for an exciting instant ticket to purchase. When they spotted their prey, a Crossword Deluxe game, the Silver Spring residents hunted down the game’s first $100,000 top prize.

They set out on their adventure knowing the $10 game still had all six top-prize tickets waiting for discovery. In search of the ever-elusive top-prize scratch-off win, the loyal players tried their luck at three different Lottery retailers: a 7-Eleven, a gas station and Safeway #2753 in Kensington. They bought a Crossword Deluxe instant ticket at each retailer and went home to see if they’d found Lottery luck.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said one of the lucky winners. Playing Pick 3/Pick 4 has only given them small prizes in the past. The happy winners didn’t share the great news with anyone other than their two children. They haven’t made many plans for their prize but may eventually take a vacation.

The two big-prize hunters have now set their sights on finding a winning $250,000 High Rollers Club scratch off ticket.

The Montgomery County Lottery retailer is also a winner. For selling the top-prize ticket in the game, Safeway #2753 located at 10541 Connecticut Avenue will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery. There are still five more $100,000 top-prize winners waiting to be claimed in the Crossword Deluxe game, along with 19 $10,000 winners and thousands of other winning tickets with prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
