Claims top prize on Jackpot instant ticket
A former insurance industry employee who relied on statistics and research to help her achieve a big Maryland Lottery scratch-off win simply couldn’t believe she was closing the case on her first major win.
The Baltimore woman didn’t trust her own eyes when she saw $100,000 appear, zero by zero, on her Jackpot instant game. In the end, she and her husband passed the $10 ticket back and forth, neither one able to fathom their $100,000 worth of Lottery luck.
“We just kept looking at it and each other, again and again,” said the 49-year-old. “It was impossible to believe.”
The mother of two adult children and grandmother of one carefully researches the Lottery’s scratch-offs before she buys them. Being in the right place at the right time also helps!
“We stopped for gas on the way home from a doctor’s appointment,” she said. “I play every week, so I decided that since I was right there, it would be a good time to get a ticket.”
She knew what she was looking for when she entered the E-Z Convenience store in Towson.
“I check mdlottery.com often to find tickets that still have big prizes left,” she said. “I remembered the Jackpot game from the last time I checked – so I got one.”
The happy player plans to pay bills with her winnings. The couple also might buy some property.
Want to visit their lucky store? E-Z Convenience is at 6825 Loch Raven Boulevard in Towson. For selling the winning ticket, the retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery. The Jackpot instant game, which launched this summer, still has four $100,000 top prizes available.
