Randallstown resident wins $50,000 prize on 20x The Cash game
A Randallstown great-grandmother of three can start designing her new kitchen now that she claimed a $50,000 top prize in the Maryland Lottery’s 20x The Cash game.
The lucky winner’s last big win of $1,000 came in the 1970s, not long after the Lottery came into existence, so this brush with Lady Luck brings her great joy. Although the “Lucky Great-Grandmother” plays Pick 3 and Pick 4, her favorite games are scratch-offs.
Lottery winners, including her husband of 35 years and her mother, surround the Baltimore County resident. Her husband consistently wins $100 here and there and attributes his winning record to the fact that he only plays scratch-off games during their first month in the stores. Her mother, also an avid player, wins enough to share prizes with family members and the family’s church.
The day the “Lucky Great-Grandmother’s” luck turned around, the 66-year-old daycare provider bought only one 20x the Cash scratch-off at Shopper’s Discount Liquors in Randallstown. “I bought it because it looked like a lot of people were winning on it,” she said. The grandmother of eight then took the scratch-off home to play later. “I save them up,” she said.
Once she revealed the prize, she couldn’t believe her eyes. Her husband took a closer look and confirmed her win. “I’m a scratch-off man,” he said, explaining that he often rechecks her scratch-offs to make sure she hasn’t missed a prize.
The Baltimore County retailer is also a winner. Shopper’s Discount Liquors, located at 8017 Liberty Road, will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the $50,000 top-prize scratch-off.
There are plenty of unclaimed prizes remaining in this $5 game. Players can look for three more top prizes of $50,000, seven $5,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $5 to $1,000. The 20x the Cash game is a member of the Lottery’s Multiplier Family of Games, which includes 5x the Cash, 10x the Cash, 50x the Cash and 100x the Cash instant tickets.
