Claims $10,000 prize on Instant Millionaire game
A Frederick chef had often dreamed about a sweet Maryland Lottery win while creating calorie-laden confectionary delights in the kitchen of a Frederick County restaurant. Those dreams, though, often disappeared in a cloud of powdered sugar.
Imagine the 27-year-old’s surprise when he scratched off an Instant Millionaire game and discovered he won $10,000!
The Frederick County resident usually treats himself to a couple of scratch-offs each week. On his lucky day, he purchased three Instant Millionaire tickets from Hillcrest Beer, Wine & Spirits located at 1090 West Patrick Street in Frederick. The loyal player scratched off the $20 instant tickets when he returned to his car, finding his big win on his final game. He called his wife before he drove home to tell her he was rolling in the dough rather than rolling it out in the kitchen.
“She was so happy,” said the winner.
The lucky chef has worked at the restaurant for nearly eight years, cooking a variety of dishes before focusing on the dessert menu. He told Lottery officials that the winnings would boost family finances and help them pay off several bills.
His lucky game went on sale in February 2015 and still has a single $1 million prize remaining along with one $50,000 prize and seven more $10,000 prizes.
