Finds top prize on the 24 Karat Cash scratch-off
Destiny Musser, who turned 18 in October, waited a few months before following in her father’s footsteps and playing Maryland Lottery scratch-offs. While her dad has searched for a top prize for years, however, the Baltimore college student already found her first top prize! She just uncovered a $24,000 top prize while playing a 24 Karat Cash scratch-off in the parking lot at a convenience store.
Destiny was with her boyfriend at a White Marsh 7-Eleven when they both decided to buy five of the $3 scratch-offs. “We bought five and didn’t win anything, and then we went back in the store and bought three more,” she said. Those three tickets did not win, either, but this game is eligible for My Lottery Rewards points toward second-chance drawings, prizes, digital downloads and local business discounts. Knowing there were multiple top prizes available on the game, Destiny returned to the store and bought two final scratch-offs. She gave one to her boyfriend to scratch off and kept one to scratch off.
“We knew there just had to be a winner,” Destiny said.
She was correct! His ticket won $30 and her scratch-off held a $24,000 top prize. Destiny told Lottery officials that she was completely shocked. The young woman asked her parents to accompany her to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim her prize and gave her father a preview of what it’s like to win big.
The quiet, happy winner plans to put the money toward her future family, as she is expecting her first child this year. “This is going to get her started off on good footing,” her mother said.
The winner found her destiny at the 7-Eleven #33266 located at 8235 Perry Hall Boulevard in White Marsh. There are four remaining top prizes and seven $1,000 second-tier prizes on the 24 Karat Cash ticket.
