Takes home $100,000 top prize
A Silver Spring woman and her husband took home $100,000 after playing a Diamonds scratch-off ticket last week. The winner told Lottery officials that she and her husband said the same thing in unison after seeing their big win: “college!”
Not too fazed by the win, the couple was very calm and collected when they came into to claim their prize. “We’re really down to earth people,” the woman said about her family. “This won’t change anything for us and how we live. We’re happy, but this is for our girls.”
The couple, who has two young daughters, plans to put their winnings directly into a college fund. “This will definitely help them when it comes time for them to go off to school,” she said.
Both parents plan on keeping the big news a secret until the time comes for their girls to go off to college. “We’ll let them know eventually. For now though, this will stay between us,” she said seriously. The winning ticket was sold at the Shell Station at 9280 All Saints Road in Laurel.
