Mary Foust has played the Lottery’s Cruise for Cash instant game several times in recent months and the ticket has treated her pretty well. So well, in fact, that when stopping by the Royal Farm convenience store at 500 Joppa Farm Road last week to pick-up a snack for her son she decided to try it again. It turned out to be a good move.
“I scratched it outside in my car,” she told officials today. “I didn’t believe my eyes when I saw the ship’s wheel symbol. I knew exactly what it meant.” That Cruise for Cash symbol is what will put Mary and her husband, first on a plane to Florida, and then on a luxury Caribbean cruise – the flight and the cruise – first-time experiences for her. “We’ve already figured out which ship we want to travel on and where we want to go. I am beyond excited.”
Partnering with Royal Caribbean International, the Lottery launched Cruise for Cash in January. The $5 scratch-off is the first of its kind for the Maryland Lottery and features seven $50,000 instant top prizes and 31 instant seven-night cruise vacations for two, departing from Florida with a premium ocean view balcony stateroom; deluxe premium hotel accommodations for two for the night prior to cruise departure, $1,000 onboard credit and $500 spending money.
