Second-Chance Contest Fan Finds Top-Prize Scratch-off Win

This lucky Baltimore man won enough to buy his own Ravens season tickets for years to come.

Ravens X5 game gives player a $20,000 prize

A second-chance contest to win Baltimore Ravens season tickets for 20 years inspired a Baltimore man to buy lots of Maryland Lottery Ravens X5 and Ravens X10 scratch-offs this season. The 28-year-old fan entered any non-winning scratch-offs into his My Lottery Rewards account in hopes of winning the season tickets prize.

Imagine his shock when, instead, he won the $20,000 top prize on the Ravens X5 scratch-off!

“I was on the phone with my brother when I was scratching (the ticket),” said the winner. He realized his scratch-off had a match with one of the winning numbers. “When I saw the number 21, I couldn’t help but smile and laugh because I thought it was a fake or there must be some type of mistake or a prank ticket.”

Nicknamed “Gramz,” the winner was with his friend at Sheldon Lounge in Baltimore getting “weekend essentials” when he made his lucky purchase. He found $4 in his pocket and, taking a chance, bought one of the $2 Ravens X5 scratch-offs.

When he calmed down after his win, “Gramz” signed the back of the instant ticket and rushed to Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. “Gramz” plans to enjoy the winnings and save his windfall for the future. The last drawing to win finalist status for the Ravens season tickets for 20 years was Jan. 15. Watch mdlottery.com in February to see which of the six finalists gets to claim that prize.

“Gramz” is not the only winner in this story. Sheldon Lounge at 4325 Belair Road in Baltimore earns a $200 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $20,000 top-prize scratch-off.
