Second Trip to Lottery Headquarters Yields $100,000 Payday

No mistake this time – Diamond 7s scratch-off delivers top-prize win

239-Diamond-7s-ITVMSix months ago, a hopeful Maryland Lottery player came to headquarters in Baltimore thinking he had a top-prize winning Hot Hand scratch-off. The Frederick man was heartbroken to learn he was mistaken, especially after telling family and friends he had won $50,000!

His victorious return to headquarters came on April 21, courtesy of a $100,000 winning Diamond 7s scratch-off bought at Ye Old Spirit Shop in Frederick. The 35-year-old selected the Diamond 7s game and a bingo scratch-off that day. He scratched off his $10 Diamond 7s ticket in the store parking lot and immediately realized he had a winner.

“I didn’t get really excited, but I thought it was cool,” he said. “I kept double checking it.”

For fear of being mistaken a second time, the loyal player didn’t share news of his win with anyone. He is not sure how he will spend his winnings; the prize may go toward refinancing his home.

Also a winner is the retailer, which is located at 1005 West 7th Street in Frederick. For selling the top-prize ticket, Ye Old Spirit Shop will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.

Diamond 7s launched in November and has two $100,000 top prizes still waiting to be found at Lottery retailers across the state. There are also thousands of other prizes ranging from $10 to $10,000.
