Harford County man wins $50,000 playing Bonus Match 5
Protecting people and property is a way of life for Daryl Colter of Edgewood, so taking care of the $50,000 prize that his lottery luck delivered is no problem. A federal security officer, Daryl is the second of two players who last week won the top prize on the Bonus Match 5 game.
“I play every once in a while, usually Pick 4 and the big jackpot games,” said Daryl. On Feb. 19, after several days of extra duty due to snow, the 43-year-old decided to take the day off. He also decided to try something new.
“I was leaving to run an errand and mentioned to my wife that I might stop for a few Lottery tickets. She suggested I try Bonus Match 5.”
The Harford County resident did just that at Edgewood Amoco, his Lottery retailer. Daryl checked the Lottery website, mdlottery.com, that evening to see if his Pick 4 numbers were winners. Alas, they were not. Then, he remembered the Bonus Match 5 ticket in his wallet. “I checked those numbers and was shocked,” he said. “I told my wife to put the baby in the swing and come see.”
The new parents are delighted with the timing of the win. “This sure comes in handy for us and our baby,” he said.
Also delighted with the $500 bonus they receive from the Lottery for selling the top prize ticket is the retailer, Edgewood Amoco, which is located at 2201 Pulaski Highway in Edgewood.
