Senior Goes ‘All In’ with $30,000 Poker Scratch-off Win

Claims top prize on World Championship Poker game

202-World-Championship-Poker-ITVM_P2-blackA senior citizen from Bedford, Pa., was dealt a lucky Maryland Lottery hand last week when a World Championship Poker scratch-off delivered a $30,000 top prize.

The 84-year-old shared the excitement of scratching off a winner with her daughter while they visited Allegany County Lottery retailer BFS Foods #76. She finished scratching her $3 ticket and handed it to her daughter because she didn’t know what to make of it. Her daughter scanned the ticket on a self-service checker and it directed them to “cash ticket at Lottery.” She’d won the scratch-off’s top prize!

“I got all shook up,” said the out-of-state winner. “I must have acted like a real yahoo!”

Waiting to cash the winning ticket was difficult. She stowed the scratch-off in a safe but still couldn’t sleep.

The lucky woman, who recently purchased a pair of hearing aids with a hefty price tag, plans to apply her windfall to the bill and share what is left with her family. Her lucky store, BFS Foods #76 at 1124 National Highway in La Vale, receives a $300 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize scratch-off.
