Keeping track of the number of remaining prizes on Maryland Lottery scratch-off games sure paid off for a Severna Park man. By checking the Lottery’s mobile app, he knew the $250,000 High Rollers Club scratch-off only had one $250,000 top prize remaining and two $10,000 prizes.
Well, the $10 game is down to one $10,000 prize now! This big winner just captured the other one.
The 51-year-old was on a work break when he purchased the last two $250,000 High Rollers Club instant tickets available at Chesapeake Liquors in Glen Burnie. Instead of scratching off the games, he first scanned them at the store located at 6720-C Governor Ritchie Highway. One of the scratch-offs was not a winner but the other one led to a peculiar message on the ticket checker.
“It said ‘Prize is too high to cash,’ ” said the winner. “Then, I scratched it off and every line was a winning amount.”
Excited and a bit shocked, the lucky player immediately called his wife to share his good news. “She was so happy for me,” he said. The father of two plans to tell his adult children about his Lottery luck in the future.
The winner said he and his wife just came back from a vacation, so the $10,000 prize will replenish his bank account.
