Shopper Bags $50,000 Winning Family Feud Scratch-Off

Glen Burnie woman claims top prize on $5 instant ticket

An Anne Arundel County woman who was doing her daily grocery shopping added one item to her cart that could pay for many, many grocery trips to come – a lucky scratch-off!

“I decided to add one to my shopping list,” she said. “As I passed the vending machine, I turned around and purchased the Family Feud ticket,” she said.

After the Glen Burnie resident scratched off the $5 game, she called her daughter to say, “I think I won $50,000!” Her daughter replied that she would be over in a few days to check the scratch-off. This time, her mother was correct.

“She has thought she won big in the past, but in reality, she did not,” said the daughter. The happy winner signed her instant ticket and headed straight to Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim her prize.

The retiree plans to spend her prize on home renovation and a well-deserved vacation with her husband. Also celebrating her win is Geresbeck’s #703, located at 7931 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Glen Burnie. The lucky retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off.

The Family Feud game is still loaded with prizes. There are five more unclaimed $50,000 prizes along with thousands of others ranging from $5 to $5,000. Players who find themselves with non-winning Family Feud scratch-offs can still try to win a $50,000 prize through a second-chance contest. Visit My Lottery Rewards for details on how to enter. The final entry deadline is Monday, Aug. 28.
