Silver Spring Couple ‘On the Road Again’ After Scratch-off Win

This happy Silver Spring couple will soon be “On the Road Again” with their scratch-off prize.

$10,000 prize will help to fund trip to visit families in the Philippines

An airport hotel shuttle driver and his wife will soon be “On the Road Again” to Southeast Asia, thanks to his $10,000 win on a Maximum Money scratch-off.

The Silver Spring man said he hasn’t visited the Philippines for about seven years. The excited couple plan to pay off a credit card and take the trip to see members of their families.

“It’s amazing,” said the happy winner. He purchased his lucky scratch-off at his favorite Lottery retailer, Aspen Hill Lottery, Beer & Wine. The Silver Spring business located at 13745 Connecticut Avenue is his spot for purchasing Mega Millions and Powerball tickets as well as scratch-offs.

On the day Lottery luck came to call, the 40-year-old first bought a $5 Home Run Riches instant ticket and scratched it off in the Montgomery County store. He won $15, and decided to reinvest in the $10 Maximum Money game that went on sale this week.

When he scratched it off and discovered his big win, the happy husband immediately called his wife at work where she teaches science to middle school students. “He said, ‘Come home, come home, I have something to show you, it’s a surprise,’” she said. When she arrived at home, she helped him confirm the big win.

“He was even shaking,” she said.

The Maximum Money game has nine unclaimed $100,000 top prizes and 33 more $10,000 prizes, in addition to thousands of other prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
