Although the weather will soon turn cool, a Silver Spring Lottery retail location is on a hot streak. This week, a 47-year-old man claimed a $50,000 top prize on a Hot Riches scratch-off purchased at Long Branch Beer & Wine. This is the fifth large prize sold at that location this year.
Today’s lucky winner bought his ticket this past Monday. With his prize, the anonymous man told Lottery officials he plans to visit family in El Salvador, pay bills and save the rest for his kids.
The four other big prizes sold at Long Branch Beer & Wine at 649 University Boulevard East were:
- $100,000 Crossword top prize, claimed by a Prince George’s County man in July;
- $13,971 Racetrax Trifecta prize, claimed by a Rockville man in August;
- $100,000 Crossword top prize, claimed by a Silver Spring woman in September; and
- $100,000 Diamond 10s top prize, claimed by Silver Spring woman in September.
For selling the $50,000 Hot Riches ticket, the lucky retailer will receive a $500 bonus. The $5 Hot Riches game has four $50,000 top prizes remaining along with thousands of others ranging from $5 to $5,000.
