Claims $50,000 Top Prize on Money Mania Scratch-Off
Favio Guerra arrived at Lottery Headquarters with his brother in tow to claim his $50,000 Money Mania prize. The native of El Salvador spoke little English, but his huge smile was able to communicate his joy none the less. “Me happy,” said the beaming 59-year-old.
His son, Oscar, interpreted for his father speaking to a Lottery official over the phone. His dad purchased the winning ticket on Wednesday and discovered his win. He was “very happy and very excited,” said Oscar, relating his father’s sentiments.
Favio arrived in the United States in 1984 and has worked in construction for many years. The married father-of-three enjoys a variety of Maryland Lottery games and intends to use his winnings to buy property back in his homeland of El Salvador. The winning ticket was purchased at Rodman’s Discount Store, located at 4301 Randolph Rd. in Silver Spring.
