Wins Top Prize on Maximum Jackpot Scratch-off
The number 54 is a very lucky number for one Silver Spring Lottery player. Not only is that the year he was born, but it was also the number that he matched as he scratched his way to one of the $250,000 Maximum Jackpot top prizes.
The 57-year-old grandfather purchased one ticket at a time, telling himself that the next ticket could be the winner. That very thought was confirmed when he got to the fourth ticket and hit the jackpot. “I didn’t have my reading glasses, so I was not sure if the ticket was really a winner,” he told Lottery officials. He took the ticket to the Lottery retailer for confirmation. When the winning ticket was confirmed, he stayed calm and quietly asked the retailer not to say anything.
He then drove home to share the news with his family. Even after telling them about his win, they thought it must not be real. After convincing them that the ticket was real and that he was $250,000 richer, his family finally looked at the ticket and became pleasantly surprised. The happy winner will pay off his mortgage and share the winnings with his family.
The winning ticket was purchased at Kensington Liberty, located at 10550 Connecticut Ave., Kensington, MD 20895. Maximum Jackpot still has two $250,000 top-prizes remaining.
