Baltimore City Woman Wins $50, 000 on Sizzlin’ Spot Crossword Scratch-Off
Who am I going to call? That was what immediately ran through Donyell McLaurin’s mind after she revealed her $50,000 Sizzlin’ Spot Crossword scratch-off win. “I couldn’t call anyone,” said the 42 –year-old, who had left her cell phone at home. “I can’t even explain it. I couldn’t believe it,” said the Baltimore City resident. To calm herself she went back in the store and had the clerk confirm that she was $50,000 richer.
Still excited and in disbelief, the lucky winner went to another store to purchase a few things she had planned to buy. “I couldn’t do it any more; I started to get nervous about carrying the $50,000 ticket around.” She left the store, headed home and immediately went to her cell phone and called her daughter Tiara at work. When Tiara heard the news the first thing she said was “Uh uh.” Donyell said that she hid the winning ticket in her sock drawer until she arrived at Lottery Headquarters with her daughter to claim the $50,000 Sizzlin’ Spot Crossword top prize. As luck would have it, on Donyell’s birthday, March 28th she won $1,000 playing Keno. “That meant a lot since it was on my birthday,” Donyell said with a huge smile on her face.
With her winnings, Donyell intends to get some work done to her house, save a little for a vacation and give some to family.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Montgomery Plaza Liquors, located at 6225 Baltimore National Pike in Baltimore.
