Finds Lottery luck playing $100,000 Gold Rush game
A 51-year-old Snow Hill sports fan who loves the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Redskins and Washington Capitals is also cheering on the Maryland Lottery after scoring his first big scratch-off win!
The loyal player lit up the scoreboard with a solid $10,000 win on the $100,000 Gold Rush game.
The Worcester County resident found his Lottery luck in Annapolis, where he and his brother go often to visit their mom. The two were headed home when our winner stopped at Tyler Amoco, located at 1207 Forest Drive in Annapolis. He bought gas and, on a whim, added the $10 scratch-off to his purchase.
The landfill employee got back in the driver’s seat and handed the instant ticket to his brother to play during their journey home. They started driving back to the Eastern Shore and didn’t get far.
“We didn’t even get to the Bay Bridge,” he said. “He was checking the ticket and he couldn’t believe it!”
The winner, who is one of five siblings, called another brother to share the good news and then the men called their mom. His brother and a sister accompanied him to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim the prize, which will go toward a new roof on his home.
The $100,000 Gold Rush game launched in January, and four of its $100,000 top prizes are still waiting to be found at Lottery retailers across the state. There are also seven $20,000 prizes, 16 more $10,000 prizes, and thousands of other prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
